I can't speak to the specifics of this vaccine. However, some vaccines are being developed as preventative (to prevent infection) and some are being developed as therapeutic (boosting the immune system of those already infected) vaccines.... Read more »

You already read about the new vaccine working in monkeys. But there seem to be certain dubious points in it. First, the virus used was a combo of hiv and siv. The vaccine also was hiv+siv. So it could be that the vaccine works against the siv and... Read more »

This was on the news link today. I don't know if this is also "therapeutic"(ie., treats people already infected) or "prophylactic" vaccine. I think its the second. Anyway, it sounds promising.
