T20 with 3TC?

I notice that T20 and 3TC have the fewest and least health threatening side effects. Also, neither causes grotesque visual effects, like myopathy or lipoatrophy. Can the two be taken in combination? Or are they not potent enough together?...

T-20 is very new so the long term effects of this agent, if any, are not known. 3TC actually suffers from the opposite - it has been around a long time but is always taken with other drugs that tend to overshadow it in the efficacy and toxicity... Read more »

Sustiva (EFV) and Combivir (AZT/3TC) Timing

This question may sound silly but I must admit that I am all about convenience.... and I dont think there's a better regimen than the one Im on... A NRTI and NNRTI - Thank God I dont have to deal with the side effects of Protease...

I would suggest that you take the CBV later in the day, i.e. aroundlunch (1pm), to avoid the chance that the morning symptoms are related to higher blood levels of AZT, and leave the evening dose alone (i.e. 1am). AZT toxicity includes nausea,... Read more »

Hello and thanks for posting. I do favor the use of once daily regimens like Viread, Epivir, and Sustiva for initial management of HIV infection. There is nothing wrong with Combivir and Sustiva and we have many patients doing well on it for years.... Read more »
