If the infant tests negative on two occasions by HIV RNA or DNA PCR testing at least 4 weeks after the infant has stopped taking AZT then you can be very confident the infant is not HIV infected. This assumes the infant was not breast-fed by the HIV... Read more »

Thanks for your post and question.Of course, a true ELISA test would be more reassuring, but I'd have to think that with three previous negative tests and a current rapid test in your hands that it's unlikely that your child will have HIV.... Read more »
