You should definitely have the children evaluated at a center that has expertise in diagnosing and caring for HIV positivie children (or your pediatrician could consult with a pediatric HIV expert). I would repeat testing on both. If one or both are... Read more »

If the infant tests negative on two occasions by HIV RNA or DNA PCR testing at least 4 weeks after the infant has stopped taking AZT then you can be very confident the infant is not HIV infected. This assumes the infant was not breast-fed by the HIV... Read more »

I am going out of my mind here. I have 12 month old baby girl, and an adopted 2 year old who is HIV positive. I was cooking dinner two weeks ago when I looked at my kids and the 2 yr old was letting the baby (12 mos) chew and gnaw on her fingers....
