Antiviral Activity of Virus-Specific CD8 T Cells Linked to Rate of CD4 T Cell Decline in HIV Infection

The extent to which virus-specific CD8 T cell responses contribute to control of viral load and prevention of disease progression in HIV infection has long been a subject of conflicting data and controversy. Early tests of the ability of CD8 T cells... Read more »

Higher HCV RNA Levels Associated With Greater Early T-Cell Activation and CD4+ Cell Depletion Among Antiretroviral-Naive, HIV/HCV-Coinfected Patients

There's nothing like hearing the results of studies directly from those who actually conducted the research. It is these women and men who are transforming HIV treatment and care. In this interview, you'll meet one of these impressive HIV... Read more »

Resting CD4+ T Cells Have Protection Against HIV, But Protection Fails When Cells Become Active, Study Shows

Resting CD4+ T cells have a "powerful" protein shield that protects them from being invaded by HIV, but the cells lose that protection when they are activated to fight an infection, allowing HIV to enter the cells, according to a paper published on... Read more »

For whatever reason your total t cell count (CD3) has decreased in half which has resulted in both your CD4 and CD8 counts (which are both t cells) in decreasing by half as well. That has resulted in a small increase in the ratio, as the CD4... Read more »
