Can you cite some reputable studies about the difference in male-to-female and female-to-male transmission rates? I have heard figures as low as 4:1 (WHO, 2000) and as high as 20:1 (Padian, Shiboski & Jewell, 1991) or higher....

OK-

It is MUCH harder for a women to give it to a man, for the obvious reasons-HIV has to be exposed to a mucous membrance and the only one on the penis is the opening of the Urethra. It is much easier the other way as the vagina is a BIG membrane.
