HIV Monitoring Test BasicsYour HIV-positive test result only lets you know that you've been infected with HIV. To find out if it's time to get HIV treatment, you'll have to visit a health care provider and get two additional tests. Most HIV-positive people can live many years with HIV before they need to take medications to control it. Confusion in reading lab resultsI have been HIV+ since 1996. I always thought when your T-cell count went up, the viral load would go down. In 8/3, my T-cells were 168, my VL was 224,638 at 15. On 9/5, my T-cells climbed to 463, my VL dropped to 268 at 15. Then today, I learned...Response from Mark Holodniy, M.D., F.A.C.P., C.I.C.

Thai Lab results make me worryDear Dr.My thai friend found HIV+ 2 years ago.CD4 285(12%)->292(10%)->430(18%)->339(8%)NOW.I am curious about his CD4 Percentage, and he stated his lab result is just show percentage and the CD4 is calculated by Dr when consulted. And his...Response from Mark Holodniy, M.D., F.A.C.P., C.I.C.

Tufts University School of Medicine
You are absolutely correct that there was less than a 2 log drop (6.5-4.7)....You are also right that the chance of curing HCV with less than a 2 log drop at 12 weeks is low. However, new therapies for HCV are expected to be going to the FDA in...
