High viral load AND high cd4 count, 5 years

I recently started dating a beautiful man that I am very interested in starting something serious with. He disclosed to me that he is positive very early on and I'm still trying to decide whether or not to continue by weighing all the relevant...

Sounds like you have done your homework and have a good grasp on the issues. Someone with a viral load over 100,000 consistently will not maintain a CD4 count of 800 for the long term, and that level of viral load puts one at greater risk for... Read more »

Low Viral Load, but early Infection

I am 35 and I have a viral load of between 8,000 and 16,000. My CD4 is 1000. I was infected about three months ago. I've heard that there is a theoretical benefit of starting treatment during early infection. Have I missed that window of...

Yours is an interesting situation-- I'd normally expect that someone with acute or recent HIV infection to have avery high viral load.Indeed, one of the goals of early treatment is to cause the viral setpoint (the viral load during chronic... Read more »

extremely high viral load linked to early onset hiv?

Viral loads are often high very early after infection (your is high-I have seen up to 20 million copies/ml). If you were recently infected then viral load often will decrease and level off over the following 3 months (CD4 count may also rebound... Read more »

Hi,No, we do not have reliable information as to how often this phenomenon occurs. As you can probably imagine it is quite challenging to conclusively prove that a particular strain of HIV was transmitted to an already infected individual. This... Read more »

Does early treatment reduce viral set point?

Posted by Anonymous
If you test positive early enough, the doc offers you to go on HAART treatment. The idea is to use the drugs to get a lower viral set point, and maybe you can go off the meds after awhile. Has anyone got any solid information on this? Does it work?... Read more »

cd4 or viral load

When starting to think about treatment, does either counts (cd4s or viral load) play a bigger role? My viral load has recently dropped, but so has my cd4's. My counts are all still at a comfortable level for me with no meds, but at the clinic... Read more »
