First thing you should do is get vaccinated for HBV now! It might help. The HBV DNA by PCR would not likely be elevated until at least 3 weeks or so after infection. The chances of infection are relatively low. You should also get tested for HIV... Read more »

Adefovir is very effective therapy for HBV. It should make the HBV DNA undetectable. In that case, the virus should not be transmissable to your girlfriend. However she should be vaccinated for BOTH hep A and B. If she does have HBV, it is very... Read more »
