HIV subtypes are not detectable by ELISA ... I have read Dr Steve say that the fourth-generation ELISA does not detect p 24 subtypes such as type 1 and MNO fail 40 to 60% detection by giving false negatives HIV2.

Hi, I read somewhere that cortisone can cause false-negatives, well the day I took my HIV test, I had put some hydrocortisone cream on a rash I had earlier that day. Should I be concered that I recieved a false-negative? Read more »
