can you get a false negative result 12 month+ poss exposure?

Hi doc, I was possibly exposed 2 hiv in sept 2008, during the next 6 month I had geo tongue, oral ulcers, diarheah, swollen glands in neck , I then took 3 mirates home tests over the next 6 month period, all negative, but I doubt there reliability...

I know of a number of people who have had repeated hiv Elisa
tests come back negative over a period of years only to
subsequently come down with an opportunistic infection like PCP
