Quantitative PCR RNA is the viral load test for HIV-1 only, right ?
For Qualitative PCR DNA for HIV-1 and HIV-2, the report format would be 'detectable' or 'not detectable', right ?..or/and would 'strain' of the hiv founded would be reported ?

The virus is very unlike other viruses. HIV-2 has about 60% of it's sequence the same as HIV-1. False positives are most likely due to operator/technical issues and not sequence homology to other pieces of DNA.... Read more »
