Angular cheilitis is just cracking at the corners of the mpouth. Most often this is due to candidiasis, a fungal infection, but it can also be due to herpes or to chapping. If it goes away with chapstick, i wouldn't be concerned about it....

In my experience, angular cheilitis can be due to herpes simplex virus (which also causes cold sores) or to thrush. Less commonly, it is associated with vitamin deficiency. Since you have a cold sore anyway, in your case I'd start by treating...
