Angular cheilitis is just cracking at the corners of the mpouth. Most often this is due to candidiasis, a fungal infection, but it can also be due to herpes or to chapping. If it goes away with chapstick, i wouldn't be concerned about it.... Read more »

In my experience, angular cheilitis can be due to herpes simplex virus (which also causes cold sores) or to thrush. Less commonly, it is associated with vitamin deficiency. Since you have a cold sore anyway, in your case I'd start by treating... Read more »
