I suspect you may be mixing up the DNA and RNA tests. The RNA tests are much more commonly done and are excellent. Negative antibody and RNA or DNA testing means you are not HIV infected.DW... Read more »

i have currently tested negative EIA (ELISA i guess, am i correct) at 8 weeks and also had a 'non-detectable' PCR at 7 weeks. the whole stuff does show some signs of hope for me. but can someone who has an idea about these help me please !!

Quantitative PCR RNA is the viral load test for HIV-1 only, right ?
For Qualitative PCR DNA for HIV-1 and HIV-2, the report format would be 'detectable' or 'not detectable', right ?..or/and would 'strain' of the hiv founded would be reported ?
