I usually test false positive or ambiguous with both the old tyne (sp?) and newer skin test for TB. (How I know this for sure would take too long to explain; in a nutshell an infectious disease specialist as well as several physicians said my tests...

I don't know why you have a "false positive"TB test. Some people are allergic to the reagent used in the TB test but the reaction from an allergy is different than a real positive. Nevertheless, that should not have any bearing on the... Read more »

Can I be tested for viral load instead of HIV to see if I'm infected?

Just one more question. If am feeling really anxious about knowing if I'm HIV possitive and can't waid 3 months for the test can I be tested for a viral load to see if it is hight to indicate that I might be infected?...

Viral load testing is more costly than an HIV test and not a good way to manage anxiety. If the anxiety is eating you up--as I assume it is--then please do two things: get tested now, and get another test at 3 months. And see a counselor about the... Read more »

I have had a boil on my left leg (upper inner thigh) for more than a week. As far as my viral load goes, I am undetectable, but how common are skin infections in people with HIV?
