Is it Kaposi's sarcoma or Basal Cell Carcinoma?

Wondering if KS may be mistaken for basal cell carcinoma (BCC) when biopsied. I have a lesion on my ankle which looks (to me) more like the pictures I've seen of KS than BCC. I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow to have it removed....

Under the microscope Kaposi's sarcoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma are VERY different. I would not worry about a pathologist confusing the two. Many of my KS patients who were sun worshippers have both KS and BCC. Good luck with your surgery!... Read more »

HI, my son's father is HIV+ and has HEPc also.. his viral count is undecectable and t-cell count has always been around 400+..he started interferon for the hepc about 4 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago he had blood drawn and his T cell count was under 300..... Read more »

Hiv negative but still worried.
I took a T-CELL count which came back as follows:

TOTAL LYMPH. 2630

CD3+ 2090 - 79.4%
CD4+ 1010 - 38.4%
CD5+ 72.8%
CD8+ 1157 - 44.0%

RATIO CD4+/CD8+ 0.87

What does this mean? Can these results be influenced by the... Read more »
