What a thoughtful question. Yes, all of us are helping to force bacteria to mutate by using antibacterial soap. Since ordinary, non-antibacterial soap does the work of soap just fine, using it in your bathrooms would be smarter--as it would for all... Read more »

anti-bacterial gels?

Do those anti-bacterial gels (for hands) that they sell in drugstores really work and kill HCV, HIV, and other viruses or are they not a true substitute for washing hands with soap? I'd hate to use them if they don't work. Thanks!...

I doubt there has been any laboratory testing of those over the counter gels to answer that question. I would opt for simple handwashing with water and soap. Dr. McGovern... Read more »

por favor, ya no se que pensar. si alguien como yo a los 6 meses tiene una serologia negativa de vih y posituva de hepatitis c pero con arn hepatitis indetectable, no es segura la prueba del vih por uan posible coinfeccion? se alarga el periodo... Read more »

En el caso de que el virus de la hepatitis C haya sido adquirido en el mismo riesgo en el cual se adquiere vih, las pruebas de vih y hepatitis C podrian ser negativas hasta los 12 meses.
