Dear doctor in the past you have said the HIV neuropathy usually happens in the advanced stage of hiv, my question is, how soon can it happen? Is 2 years a a good time for it to start? Please help me out. thankyou very much...

It isn't possible to give a timeframe for this because different people have different rates of HIV disease progression. On AVERAGE, it might take 8-10 years fater becoming HIV-infected to develop HIV-related peripheral neuropathy.... Read more »

Is neuropathy an opportunistic infection? I'm talking about HIV itself neuropathy not the one produced by medications. If it is an opportunistic infection would it appear early in hiv infection or a later stages? Thank you much....
