Epzicom/Kivexa (Abacavir + Lamivudine)

What Is Epzicom? Epzicom is a pill that contains two drugs used to fight HIV: abacavir (Ziagen) and Epivir (lamivudine, 3TC). Epzicom is manufactured by ViiV Healthcare. Outside the US, it is called Kivexa. Generic versions have been tentatively approved under PEPFAR (see Fact Sheet 475 ). Thanks for your post.Epzicom is the same as full dose Ziagen (abacavir) and Epivir (3TC). The advantages are 1 less pill, 1 less copayment and if you're not already doing it, Epzicom can be taken once a day.Since it's the same as the two... Read more »

severe back pain with half dosage Epzicom

can a buildup of Epzicom cause severe lower back pain, even half dosage taken for 4 months with 100 mg Reyataz?...

Thanks for your post.You've got plenty of "wiggle" room for dosing your once-a-day regimen. Shifting your dose from 9:30 to 10:30 shouldn't pose any problems with drug levels.As for the malaise or other side effects, most... Read more »

I'm starting in a study, and I just got my meds today. I'll be on Reyataz boosted with Norvir, and either Epzicom or Truvada (I won't know which).

I have just been diagnosed with a CD4 count of 11, and a viral load of 820,000.
I may start teatment with Epzicom + Reyataz and I wanted to know if anybody else had started with this regimen, or is currently on it, and what they thought of it?
