Is Combivir completely equivalent to taking AZT and 3TC separately? I suppose when taken separately, the proportion could be changed (more of one or the other) whereas the propotion is fixed in Combivir, right? Any other reason why the separate...

No, combivir has been shown in several studies to be comparable to zidovudine and lamivudine dosed seperately.So, if you are taking zidovudine and lamivudine as part of your antiretroviral regimen, it makes sense to take combivir.... Read more »

Tough situation to pin on 3TC given the scenario you described. It would be unusual for 3TC to be the main culprit though it could happen (switching to a different med for 1-2 months would sort that out such as tenofovir or abacavir). Given that... Read more »
