Bulgaria: Thousands Protest Libyan Sentence

On Saturday in Sofia, Bulgarians burned a 10-foot high gallows to protest the death sentence imposed on five Bulgarian nurses convicted of infecting Libyan children with HIV. Earlier this month, a court in Benghazi, Libya, sentenced the five women and a Palestinian doctor to execution by firing squad for infecting 426 Libyan children. The protesters released six white doves in the capital. Across Bulgaria, thousands of medics stood in front of hospitals and staged silent protests.
