Cases of HIV in South Dakota

April 26, 2002

South Dakota has had nine reported HIV infections to date this year, according to the state Department of Health (SDDH). In 2001, the state had 22 HIV cases, SDDH reported. There have been 397 HIV cases registered in South Dakota since SDDH started keeping statistics in 1985, according to its recently released HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report. Of those cases, 193 have been diagnosed with AIDS.
