National Hotline Opens for Advice on Occupational HIV Exposure ProphylaxisNovember 19, 1997 San Francisco General Hospital is now offering a free,
24-hour hotline -- The National Clinician's Post Exposure
Prophylaxis Hotline (PEPLine) -- to clinicians in need of advice on
how to best treat healthcare workers accidentally exposed to
blood-borne diseases such as HIV and hepatitis. According to a
University of California at San Francisco press release, PEPLine
is open seven days a week and offers timely information on
prophylaxis for occupational exposure. PEPline, which can be
reached by calling 1-888-448-4911, is an outgrowth of the UCSF's
Needlestick Hotline and National HIV Telephone Consultation
Services.
