CDC Report Includes Updated Recommendations for HIV-Related Pediatric Care

CDC's latest Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) includes updated guidelines for pediatricians and other health care professionals who care for children living with HIV or have been exposed to the virus. "The report provides recommendations for the most effective ways to diagnose, prevent and treat so-called 'opportunistic infections,' " according to MMWR. The guidelines were developed by officials from the CDC, the NIH, the HIV Medicine Association of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics (8/26).
