What woman with HIV hasn't had problems with their menstrual cycle?

At the WORLD Retreat two years ago in Santa Cruz, I suggested that we make a list of menstrual complaints. Thirty six out of 40 women with HIV had some trouble with their periods.

The following is a list of symptoms which accompany our periods that were identified at the retreat.

• Mood swings
• Sweats and fevers
• No periods at all
• Excessive bleeding
• Blood clots
• Diarrhea
• Headaches
• Constipation
• 3 periods per month
• A period every six months
• Irritability (Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde type )
• Nausea
• Fatigue (big time)
• Anemia
• Severe cramps
• Water retention
• Leg aches
• Lower Back Pain
