Thailand: Pill Touted as Cure for AIDS Banned

Thailand's government has banned the manufacture and distribution of a food supplement whose inventors had touted it as an AIDS cure. Thousands of HIV-positive Thais who cannot afford antiretrovirals have taken the pill, V-1 Immunator. Scientific studies never proved that V-1 could treat or cure AIDS. Its makers could face three years in prison and $1,000 in fines if they are convicted of making false claims.
