The 3rd International Conference on Nutrition and HIV Infection

This year the meeting has been planned to include new data on recent multidisciplinary advances in pathophysiological issues and the treatment of nutritional aspects of HIV disease. Advances have been made recently on antiretroviral regimes in the management of HIV infection and the impact of such treatment will be assessed. In addition, recent advances in the effects of protease inhibitors on regional and whole-body composition, on lipid and glucose metabolism and hormone systems will be reviewed and addressed. Following are selected conference summaries of abstracts for written, poster and oral presentations reported exclusively for The Body by Alvan Fisher, M.D., board-certified specialist in internal medicine, and associate director of the Brown University AIDS Program, staff physician at Rhode Island Hospital in the Department of Medicine and Division of Infectious Diseases, and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Brown University School of Medicine.
