In Brazil, You've Got Mail and Possibly an STD

August 27, 2009

A new Web site created by the Brazilian Health Ministry lets visitors e-mail a "virtual postcard" to inform their sex partners that they may be infected with an STD. The cards suggest that the recipients visit a doctor for screening. The cards may help people "tackle these diseases directly and with minimum exposure," said Mariangela Simao, who leads the ministry's HIV and STD programs. To learn more, visit the Portuguese-language Web site at www.aids.gov.br/muitoprazer/index.php?qdiganao.
