Where to Be Tested for STDs in Los Angeles
February 2001 Thirteen clinics providing free testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases are operated by Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. Free and confidential HIV testing is also available at these clinics. Appointments are not taken. All services are confidential. Anyone at least 12 years old can receive STD care without parental consent. Days and hours of operation vary from clinic to clinic. Call the STD clinic near you to confirm their operating days and hours, and arrive as early as possible to improve the likelihood of being seen.
No fees are charged for services in county STD clinics. For the clinic nearest you and for updated schedules, call the L.A. County STD Hotline at (800) 758-0880. The hotline also provides 24-hour recorded information between 7 A.M. and 5 P.M., Monday through Friday. You can also visit http://phps.dhs.co.la.ca.us/std/index.htm for more information.
