May 29, 2009

Baylor College of Medicine's International Pediatric AIDS Initiative has bestowed its 2009 Leadership Award on President George W. Bush and Laura Bush. Dr. Mark Kline, BIPAI president, praised Bush for the creation of the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, which has saved more than 1.1 million lives and reduced AIDS-related deaths by more than 10 percent across sub-Saharan Africa. Kline commended Laura Bush for her advocacy work with mothers and children living with HIV/AIDS and for her five trips to Africa.
