Around 800 people participated in Pittsburgh's 10th -- and final -- annual AIDS walk on Sunday. Organizers said the event's demise was due to declining participation. This year's walk came up about $30,000 short of its $100,000 fundraising goal. Mary Hawk, a program development specialist with the AIDS Task Force, said the walk had done a lot to raise money and spirits in Pittsburgh. "I remember walking up the hill and coming around the corner to see a thousand people in front of me. It was incredible to know that we were together. It was important for [those with AIDS] to see it," recalled Hawk. Many in Sunday's walk wore signs in memory of those who have died from HIV/AIDS.
