Malaysia to Impose Mandatory Pre-Marital HIV/AIDS Screening

Responding to reports of rising HIV infections among women, many of whom are believed to have been infected by their husbands, Malaysia's government has announced plans for mandatory pre-marriage HIV screening. "Next year, we will make it mandatory for all states to impose the HIV screening as part of the pre-marital course," Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said Thursday. Five Malaysian states already require HIV testing before marriage.
