Indian Brothers Pedal From Canada to Mexico for AIDS Awareness

August 5, 2008

Two Indian brothers who bicycled all the way from Toronto arrived Sunday in Mexico City and promptly joined hundreds of people in a demonstration demanding universal access to antiretrovirals. Surya and Giri Markala saw the journey as a way to bridge the gap between the previous and current host cities of the International AIDS Conference. Their 50-day, 2,400-mile ride was supported by B'Care, a non-governmental AIDS organization active in India and Canada.
