Celebrities Flock to Vienna for Splashy AIDS Charity Gala

May 19, 2008

Thousands of onlookers turned out Saturday in Vienna to watch thousands of celebrity revelers arrive for Life Ball, billed as Europe's biggest annual HIV/AIDS fundraiser. Those in attendance included "Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall, supermodel Linda Evangelista, and actress Sharon Stone. Cattrall presented CARE Austria with a €100,000 (U.S. $155,530) check to support a project it runs in Kenya. Gery Keszler, the event's organizer, said he hopes the proceeds of this year's party will top last year's, which brought in €1.2 million (U.S. $1.9 million). Money raised by Life Ball goes to support AIDS projects in Austria and elsewhere. More information is available at www.lifeball.at.
