House Appropriates $6.5 Billion for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and MalariaJune 28, 2007 By a 241 to 178 vote, the House of Representatives recently passed a bill, HR 2764, to appropriate $34.2 billion for foreign operations in fiscal year 2008. The total is an increase of $2.7 billion, or 8.5 percent, over the comparable 2007 figure. Among other allocations, the measure provides $6.5 billion for global health initiatives for diseases including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
