Michigan: High School Students Stage Events to Help Raise HIV/AIDS AwarenessApril 25, 2007 Henry Ford II High School's Theatre Department this week is raising HIV/AIDS awareness through several scheduled events. On Thursday and Friday, students will perform "The Yellow Boat," a one-act play based on the true story of Benjamin Saar, a hemophiliac who contracted HIV through a blood transfusion and died in 1987 at age 8. On Friday evening, the department is also offering a dinner and show package that includes a silent auction of children's artwork. Half the proceeds from ticket sales and all of the money raised at the auction will support Project Challenge day camps, counseling resources, and HIV/AIDS support. Both the play and the dinner will be held at Utica High School, 47255 Shelby Road in Utica. For more information, telephone 586-797-1600.
