Colorado: Sex Education Bill Clears Senate Panel
March 30, 2007 Under a measure approved 4-3 by the Senate Education Committee on Thursday, Colorado school districts that offer sex education classes would be required to include information on contraception and STDs. The bill would not require schools to teach sex education, but it would set statewide standards mandating that such instruction be grounded in science. It would also require that abstinence be stressed as the only 100 percent effective way to avoid STDs and pregnancy.
