Chicago Events Mark World AIDS Day

November 30, 2006

Several Chicago-area groups are commemorating World AIDS Day, Dec. 1. Some of Friday's events include: The AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago will conclude a lecture series, "Commemorating 25 Years of HIV/AIDS," with a panel discussion at the institute's Price Auditorium at noon. Columbia College Chicago will offer free HIV screenings for students from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., 1104 S. Wabash. Howard Brown Health Center will conduct free testing and counseling at its 4025 N. Sheridan Rd. center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at Broadway Youth Center, 3179 N. Broadway, from 1 to 9 p.m. The Chicago Department of Public Health is sponsoring an HIV/AIDS Expo, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph, and the Richard J. Daley Center, 55 W. Randolph. World Vision is sponsoring the AIDS Walk for Orphans, 5:30 p.m. at the Christmas tree at Daley Plaza, Dearborn and Washington, and at 6:30 p.m. at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave., Glenview.
