New York: Man Sentenced to Probation for Infecting Wife With HIVJuly 19, 2002 Morris Lindenbaum of Riverhead, N.Y., who was accused of knowingly infecting his wife with HIV, was sentenced to five years of probation Wednesday. In May, Lindenbaum, 50, pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment for having unprotected sex with his then-wife when he knew he was HIV-positive. Authorities said the woman, whose name was not released, married Lindenbaum in 1996 and repeatedly asked whether he was HIV-positive. He allegedly told her he had been tested and was negative. Lindenbaum, who was sentenced in Suffolk County Court, had also been charged with first-degree assault, but that charge was dropped in a plea bargain.
