New York: Clinic Gets $145,000 Grant

August 14, 2003

AIDS Community Services in Buffalo, N.Y., received a $145,000 federal grant for its Evergreen Health Services clinic. The clinic serves 450 clients a year in a family setting. The two-year "capacity building grant" from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will help to expand services for those most in need and to monitor those needs. "The only way to successfully address the complex issues surrounding the HIV/AIDS public health epidemic, particularly in high-risk populations, is to build capacity while incorporating a continuum of on-site intensive services [to ensure] that all individuals receive the care they need," the federal agency said. AIDS Community Services provides medical, supportive, and preventive services and encourages individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles and behavioral changes.
