Atlanta: It's Moving Day for AIDS Quilt

Lots of helping hands are needed Saturday in Atlanta to move the AIDS Quilt, which has been housed temporarily in a portion of an Inman Park warehouse, into a more permanent and renovated part of the facility. The quilt has been in Atlanta since the NAMES Project made the city its national headquarters in April 2001. It now contains quilt squares that memorialize the names of about 90,000 victims of the disease and is as large as 45 football fields when spread out. The job takes place Saturday in shifts from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; noon to 3:30 p.m.; and 3 to 6:30 p.m. To volunteer, call 404-688-5500 or e-mail jon_santos@aidsquilt.org.
