John Snow, Inc. Releases Two HIV/AIDS-Related Guides, Policy Brief; AIDS Foundation of Chicago Releases Annual Candidate Survey

October 14, 2004

The Kaiser Daily HIV/AIDS Report periodically will feature the "Recent Releases" section, in which we briefly describe new reports, studies, advertisements, surveys or other items of interest to our readers. To submit items for consideration, please email dailyreports@kaisernetwork.org.
  • John Snow, Inc.: JSI recently released a policy brief on HIV/AIDS commodity security, a guide to assess program readiness for initiating antiretroviral therapy and a guide for quantifying HIV testing needs. "HIV/AIDS Commodity Security: No Product? No Program!" is an eight-page policy brief that explains the implications of supply chain management for HIV/AIDS program managers and policy makers. "Tool to Assess Site Program Readiness for Initiating Antiretroviral Therapy" is a 20-page guide to help antiretroviral programs select distribution sites based on capacity, vision and actions needed to expand into HIV care instead of on the type of site. "Guide for Quantifying HIV Test Requirements" provides HIV/AIDS program managers with a tool to measure HIV test requirements to help identify their needs and manage their supplies (JSI release, 10/12).

  • AIDS Foundation of Chicago: AFC last week released its annual survey of congressional and state legislative candidates, which asks them about their views on AIDS-related policies. This year, 63 Illinois candidates for public office responded to the survey. Most respondents endorsed efforts to expand access to health care programs for people living with HIV/AIDS, according to an AFC release (AFC release, 10/8). A complete report of the survey results is available online
