International AIDS Vaccine Initiative Releases Several Working Papers, Brief

"The Contribution of AIDS Vaccines to Poverty Reduction -- Policy Brief," International AIDS Vaccine Initiative: The four-page policy brief examines the role an HIV/AIDS vaccine would play in achieving sustainable reductions in poverty (IAVI release, 4/25).
"Assessing the Demand for an HIV Vaccine -- Policy Brief," International AIDS Vaccine Initiative: The five-page policy brief examines to what extent governments, especially in developing countries, would purchase an HIV/AIDS vaccine if one were developed, as well as other issues related to distributing an HIV/AIDS vaccine (IAVI Web site, 4/26).
"Demand for an HIV Vaccine: A Literature Review -- Policy Research Working Paper," International AIDS Vaccine Initiative: The 41-page paper examines key issues in assessing global-, national- and household-level demand for an HIV vaccine and summarizes what has been learned about what steps need to be taken to improve demand estimates (IAVI release, 4/25).

"Promoting R&D in Preventive Health Technologies: Opportunities for the Indian Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Sector -- Policy Research Working Paper," International AIDS Vaccine Initiative: The 20-page paper includes materials presented at a workshop on opportunities for the Indian pharmaceutical industry to participate in vaccine research and development that was held in December 2004 in New Delhi, India (IAVI release, 4/25).
