Recent Releases: Global Fund Releases Progress Report, Analysis of Grant Performance

• "Sustaining Performance, Scaling Up Results: Third Progress Report 2005," Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria: An internal analysis of the 316 programs in 127 countries to which the Global Fund contributes shows that the programs support 220,000 people receiving antiretroviral treatment, 600,000 people living with tuberculosis and 1.1 million people with malaria. Based on an analysis of 74 grants that have been in effect for 18 months or more, the fund says it has achieved 103% of its AIDS treatment targets and 156% of malaria treatment targets.

• "The Impact and Results of the Global Fund Model: Aid in Fragile States," Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria: The analysis indicates that incentives associated with performance-based funding and collaborations between public and private sectors have led to successful grant performance in areas where such performance was unexpected (Global Fund release, 8/23).
