Make PWA's Pay

Winter 1995/1996

(from the PWA Health Group
150 W. 26th, #201, NY 10001)

Recently the FDA gave Celgene, a drug company, the right to charge PWA's for an experimental drug.

Charging for trials is not ethical. People generously risk their health to volunteer for clinical trials. Charging people to be guinea pigs is an outrage! Trying an experimental drug is an unknown, possibly dangerous risk. The decision to charge for experimental drugs is a complete abrogation of the FDA's public health responsibilities and is a flagrant abuse of existing regulations. This is a dangerous precedent.

Let the FDA know that charging for trials and unapproved drugs is unethical. Participation is not a privilege to be bought. It is a generous and brave sacrifice.
