SilviaDecember 2001 Silvia, 24, is a volunteer for Arché, an Italian AIDS non-governmental organisation. Silvia has been a volunteer since 1998 and is involved in two projects. She visits a nine-year-old HIV-negative girl whose mother is HIV-positive and whose father has already died. For the last two years, she has been active in a school-based outreach project and she visits secondary and high school classes and speaks out about HIV/AIDS. "Listening to and playing with children, seeing them suffer, I have learned to be strong, abandoning pity and fear."  This article was provided by UNAIDS.
