Miriam Yeung Chin-wah

Miriam Yeung Chin-wah started her career as a singer in 1995 after winning a contest organized by one of Hong Kong's top television stations and Capital Artist Ltd. She has appeared in television and film productions and in recent years her popularity has spread to Taiwan and South East Asia. Since April 2000, Miriam has served as UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador. In this capacity, she has participated in various HIV/AIDS activities in Hong Kong with the Red Ribbon Centre. In early 2001, she was involved in a radio programme that provided general knowledge about HIV/AIDS prevention.

The young people pictured are secondary school students who participated in the "Youth Action on AIDS" funding scheme, a project devised to encourage and mobilise young people to organize innovative education and advocacy projects on HIV/AIDS.

"When I was younger a lot of questions about sex were unanswered. It's important that people inform their friends about AIDS."
