Ricky Martin

December 2001

Ricky Martin has remained true to his Puerto Rican roots and the Hispanic/Latino fanbase that first made him a star. Ricky Martin has introduced Latin Pop music to markets around the world including the United States, England, Japan, China, Germany, and many others. He has received numerous awards from MTV Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards among others. For World AIDS Day 2000, Ricky Martin hosted a joint MTV/UNAIDS/World Bank production called "Staying Alive II" which profiled HIV-positive young people from around the world. Ricky Martin is an active participant in many social causes including the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the Luciano Pavarotti & Friends fundraising concerts, the Carousel of Hope and the Rainforest Foundation.

"Our voices matter. Each one of us should use the talents we have to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS."

-- Ricky Martin
