National Minority AIDS Council
Announces New HIV/AIDS Treatment Education Manual

The National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC), in collaboration with Gay Men's Health Crisis, has developed a new HIV/AIDS treatment education manual to assist frontline community-based AIDS workers and organizations. The manual offers a comprehensive description of current HIV/AIDS treatment options, effective educational programs for CBOs, current information about HIV/AIDS research and the status of new HIV/AIDS drugs in the United States. The manual is easy to read and offers step by step strategies for organizing and implementing quality HIV/AIDS treatment education programs. An overview of the manual and glossary of terms are also provided in Spanish.

"It is essential that those working in frontline organizations servicing the HIV/AIDS community are kept abreast of the latest advancements in AIDS treatment and research. This manual is an excellent source of information, that will provide outstanding guidance for those continuing in the struggle," stated co-author Moisés Agosto, Director of Research and Treatment Advocacy for NMAC.

Also included are methods for becoming an effective AIDS treatment advocate.

By joining or organizing an advocates program, individuals and or organizations help to influence the outcome of more in-depth research as well as the approval and distribution of more effective drugs and therapies.

The complete HIV/AIDS Treatment Education Manual is available for sale by contacting the National Minority AIDS Council at 1931 13th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20009 or by calling 202-483-6622.
