U.S. News California: Group to Oversee Porn Health PlanJune 1, 2011 The Free Speech Coalition, an adult-film industry trade organization, has announced that it will oversee a program that requires performers to undergo regular testing for HIV and other STDs. The effort will fill the gap left by the demise of the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM), which closed its doors in May, citing financial hardship. The new program will be called Adult Production Health & Safety Services, said Diane Duke, FSC's executive director. Performers will continue to undergo monthly testing, and their results will be entered in a database accessible to filmmakers. But rather than operating a specific clinic, as AIM did, APHSS will provide a list of pre-screened clinics and providers at which performers can test nationwide, Duke said. FSC's announcement came just one day after the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to ask state and county officials for permission to require condom use on adult-movie sets as a condition of issuing a permit to film.
