AIDS Is 30: "Let's Get Tested" Campaign Starts in Utah

June 1, 2011

The Utah AIDS Foundation is launching a new awareness campaign timed to the 30th anniversary of the first reports of HIV/AIDS. Called "Let's Get Tested," the effort aims to test 500 people for HIV in 30 days. The number of people screening HIV-positive at UAF during the first quarter of 2011 was equivalent to all the positive results it saw in 2010, the organization said. "We especially need to get the message out to young gay men that HIV/AIDS is still without a cure and new infections are still happening every year," said Stan Penfold, UAF's executive director.
